Internet provider offers $50 a month service to south Sacramento mobile home park

Hundreds of households at Florin Mobile Estates mobile home park in Sacramento could be switching to low-cost, fast internet service and save hundreds of dollars a year.

This comes as Kwikbit Internet – a broadband provider that provides services specifically for mobile homes and RVs – launched their internet service in the south Sacramento area.

According to CEO John Costello, this means that residents can connect to 1 gigabit symmetrical internet for $50 a month.

That’s less than half of what Lee Long currently pays. Long has been a resident at Florin Mobile Estates for the last nine years and says that while she’s received a few promotions, they typically last a few months before higher bills kick in.

“Seventy bucks will fill up our car. We’ve got a big Subaru SUV, so it needs a lot of gas. I think it’s something between $50 to $60 so that’ll take care of that,” Long said.

There are more than 250 homes at Florin Mobile Estates.

Currently, Kwikbit provides service to residents in 12 mobile home parks across the state.

The project began during the height of COVID-19, initially providing internet service to school districts in Northern California but quickly found other underserved communities in mobile home parks.
